SYNOPSIS:
Print can often be an important launch pad into art or give practicing artists new inspiration: it lends itself to experimentation, produces a range of different textures, luminosity of colour and delicacy or strength of line and, occasionally, throws up something that is totally unexpected, fresh and lively. If you are interested in where to learn to do it yourself or just fascinated by the process then please come along and join the artists from local Reveal Collective at their current group show “Transformations” at Salford Art Gallery. This enjoyable and accessible exhibition illustrates a wide range of printing techniques including screen printing, etching, dry point, lino-cut, mono-print, collograph and lithography used in very different ways. We will talk to you about how to make an original and exciting new work, show you how the first ideas in sketchbooks and photos, the sequential layers of printing and the blind alleys and happy accidents lead to an end product and also bring tools and plates that can inspected by hand and illustrate the different ways that we have made the work in our exhibition. Please come along whether you are looking to discuss your own ideas or just for fun.
