SYNOPSIS:
FaMAS (Falcon Mill Artists Studios) was founded in 2012 by artist Pete Marsh in part of a Grade II listed former cotton mill. Landscape painting, conceptual art, printmaking (including etching, dry-point, lino-cut and mono-printing), figurative painting and sculpture…FaMAS Art Gallery and Studios has it all and more! Eleven artists have studios at FaMAS and we exhibit a guest artist twice a year. Pete first viewed the space at Falcon Mill in 2010 when it was still a showroom for plastic Christmas trees. He was asked by the developers to draw up plans for a suite of artists’ studios along with an exhibition space. In 2012 construction of the gallery space and eleven studios commenced and over the years improvements to the studio and exhibition space have resulted in the excellent facilities currently available. Pete’s work as Gallery Technician at Ikon Gallery, Birmingham, during the early 1980s took him to various galleries and studios across Britain (including Henry Moore’s studio). This helped him to develop the vision to establish a professional exhibition space within the studio complex.
The exhibition space along with the studios are occasionally used to run art workshops and indeed exhibitions of work produced at the workshops.
